Phyllis is a graduate of the Louisiana State Medical Center. She completed her residency in Family Medicine in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She has 37 years of experience of practicing medicine in various different settings. The most memorable was when she worked as a locum tenens provider that took her to over 10 states!
Phyllis was initially drawn to healthcare when she realized it was the perfect combination of science and teaching. She enjoys educating patients on how to keep their bodies healthy and how to take care when they are sick. She loves the Vera philosophy of illness prevention, instead of illness treatment.
In her free time, Phyllis enjoys traveling to new places, reading political and military history, and attending concerts and plays. She also likes to spend time with her son and his family.
